Chinese Dinner

Penang is actually the chinese settlement area of malaysia, and is where Ling (bride) was born. so the wedding was a pseudo chinese/english affair. traditionally the night before a chinese wedding there is a huge huge banquet, 650 people attended this one...with 620 being chinese. have to say it was a great and sometimes bizarre night. they had a trio of singers singing (very loudly) and an 8 course dinner, with speaches, bless rob for trying half his speach in mandarin...and his dad also trying the lingo. what was funny, and i hear, traditional is that as soon as the 8th course was served, every one left, i mean, there was even a queue out of the door...i kid not. was a very fun evening though. another tradition is that the groom has to go around all the tables and they then sing 'yyaaaaaaaaaang seeeeeng' and down the drinks...poor rob...there were 650 people! i think the best man came off worse
