Froystul

A few of us hired a Hytte/cabin for the weekend, for a very Norwegian weekend, ie mountain biking, walking, fishing, eating and drinking. Froystul is about 230km from Oslo and is half way between Oslo and the west coast of Norway.

Such a beautiful place, and the Rjukan valley was incredible.

Friday night there was just enough time for dinner and a few drinks (whisky and drambui not recommended)

Saturday we went downhill mountain biking, then a spot of fishing...no one caught anything, but i did get a bite on my first cast (actual picture below)...but was as close as anyone got...personally I think the fish were laughing at us.

Saturday more great food and beers

Sunday was a more gentile ride, more cross country than saturday. I went with anna, andy and neil. We rode to a massive lake, where we had a paddle...well, truth be told...i was feeling a little brave, so waded out to a rock in just my lycra cycling shorts about 5 metres out, then got a little more brave/stupid and tried to swim. this was actually quite a scary moment, as i literally couldnt breathe it was THAT cold, seriously, i started to panic a bit, i literally couldnt take a breath...but managed to stumble my way back to shore intact (with my dignity less than intact i have to say!)

There is a photo, but unfortunately, my camera died on the saturday, BUT if anyone from the weekend sends me photos, i will put them up. Most of them are the typical gorgeous scenery, clear blue lakes, green pine forests blah blah blah...

Anyway, photos and stuff below. It was a typical norwegian summer weekend though and i loved it. Great group of people, great outdoor stuff, great food, and apart from the bacardi martini...great drink.

I had a 'postcard' moment on the friday night, i was sat on the sofa, in a log cabin, with a beer in one hand sat in front of a roaring log fire, chatting away the hours...it was wonderful...

THIS is what Norway is all about.
