Kon Tikki Museum


An experiment in the 1950's by explorers from Norway, to prove that south americans could have travelled to polynesia (some 3000km away) in historic times (deliberate vagueness as i forgot the dates...but dont tell anybody) using materials available at the time. this was the first effort using papyrus leaves. This effort failed due to the ropes disintegrating . the bottom picture is the raft they successfully completed the trip on

ha ha!! its the travelling alone thing of having to ask a random stranger to take a photo..i think that was the 3rd attempt for the lovely old norwegian lady to find THE BIG SILVER BUTTON ON THE FRONT...NO NO....THE BIG...NO...NOT THAT ONE...S-I-L-V-E-R ONE...ho hum
