Caught by the Fuzz
Well, not me really (fuzz being slang for police). A colleague was caught speeding on the main highway (motorway) yesterday, he was doing 20km/h over the limit (thats 12mph)...and was fined on the spot....get this...£600!!!!!!!!!!!! SIX HUNDRED POUNDS!!!!!
Sentences here are incredible:
- if you are over the alcohol limit here (which is zero, like Japan), then if they test you on the spot, you get put in jail for 21 days, no arguement, no court case, jail, 3 weeks. plus a massive massive fine, which is based on your salary...the more you earn, the more you pay, oh and youre banned from driving for a long period. this also counts the same if its the morning after youve been out and still have alcohol in your system.
-japan was pretty strict i think in terms of fines etc..
- malaysia on the other hand...was ermm.. less strict on speeding and stuff. you would normally get out of most things with a £3 bribe. When i first got there, my 'rented' car had no tax, no insurance and i had no valid license and after a short negotiation (i was caught in a road block...not for me, just a general spot check one, the fine came down to £5 (i mean...c'mon...it was a serious offence you know)...not sure if the malaysian government saw much of that £5 to be honest

with the way you drive mate..
its only a matter of timE!!
Ouch! £50 per mile/hour, it would've cost us over £4000 if the same rules applied in Japan. My Scooby won't hit the limiter any more - damn clutch!
