Sheffield

woke up this morning, turned bbc world news to the words 'sheffield, its in yorkshire...and its in danger of being wiped out by floods...' certainly woke me up quick enough. massive rains have flooded my home town (5th biggest city in england), even more worryingly, a nearby dam is cracking which could do god knows what damage. on a lighter moment, the bottom photo shows sheffield wednesday football ground is completely under water...best news all day :-)

Bloody 'ell. That'll learn 'em for building on the flood plains. It's raining in a lot here, but as the hole countryside is water logged with the rice fields it doesn't really flood! I was tempted to make some joke about the water logged pitch, but thought better of it!

I saw that on the news. I think they must be getting all the rain we are not getting. It is not raining alot. They are saying how strange it is because in the rainy season it should rain for four weeks straight. I believe they have learned to cope with large amounts of rain where England has not.
