Journey To Work

I took these on my way to work on tuesday. i always pass the tree with the single orange fruit on (oh i forget the name), and every day, the little tree clings to that last piece of fruit, its been there for weeks now, on its own, clinging for dear life (its still there today). always makes me happy to see it still there, it will be a sad day when it gives up...ironically, the picture of the tree abundant with fruit is directly across the road from the one fruit tree....maybe this says something about life, (or maybe i should just put the red wine down...) the other picture i took on my way to work, the yellow and red poles are 'snow poles'. they are so that when it snows, the snow ploughs can see where the road is....note, the poles are 6 feet high! eek!

If i'm not mistaken, those fruits are called 'persimmons'.

Ooh.. you're so lucky if they are. It's so expensive to buy them here.

yeah, "kaki" in japanese. watch out, people here like to give big bags of them away as "gifts". i hate them. (the persimmons, not the people).

thats the one, persimmons...a guy at work brings them into the office. you eat them semi dried, not unlike apricots to taste, but i agree, not very nice, the guy was all excited when i tried one, and had to give him the 'hmmm...yum' sound, and smile, when all i wanted to do was spit it in the bin. not nice. persimmon update, single fruit on tree still there today :-)

ooh... send those persimmons to me then. :D Eat them fresh. Tastes better than semi-dried (which i agree is yuck!)

Btw, "kaki" means legs/feet in Malay. Hmm.. now i have seconds thoughts about the fruit...
