Astrology is a huge part of Hindu culture. before you get married, you have to have your charts analysed, if they dont match, you are not allowed to marry. this takes precedence even over actually meeting your future spouse (you see kamala, i was listening)

this was one of the largest surviving observatory in india. they utilse the sun to plot the charts. the big dome in the floor has 2 wires suspending a circular steel plate with a hole. in the marble inverted dome, are charted the different astrological signs, when the sun moves through the year, it markes which sign we are in. ingenius really.

the big structuer with the incredible wobbly bamboo scaffolding is a huge sun dial, we checked it to our watches and its incerdibly accurate
