The Dark Side

one thing i forgot is that malaysia does have a pretty dark side which is very well hidden from tourists. as i got to the hotel a news story broke about a blogger in malaysia getting sentenced to 2 years in jail for speak ing out against the government. the death penalty is still rife in malaysia, the opposition leader had just been jailed again on bogus claims of soddomy concocted by the government. the government control all the media in the country, and most bad news is pretty well hidden for fear of scaring tourists off...the paper shown below is typical of that...murders are shown, but usually at the end of good news stories, or are hidden. the other news story that caught my eye was a story of sheffield united...always weird to be in a foreign country and read about sheffield
