Sunday in Fredrikstad

So...Norway has sprung back into life from it's winter hibernation, and not before time, as i swear the last few months of darkness was beginning to have an effect on my psych. days are suddenly light, and those deep blue norwegian skies have returned, which gives me the 'sun-guilt', i.e. i cant simply sit at home when the sun is out, i need to do 'something' that involves the outdoors, whilst the playstation and Wii are now relatively redundant until the darkness returns again. so after sundays excursion, i cajoled friends of mine (rach and phil) into a roadtrip to get out of oslo. the choice was Fredrikstad, which lies 130km south of oso, and was supposed to be a pretty little town, well, indeed it was. a typical wooden housed small picturesque town, built around 1663 an originally established to defend norway from those pesky invading Swedes. an afternoon well spent... (we gladly avoided the whaling museum, which apprarently/conveniently had no signs in english...hmm one wonders why...)
